Kvitova wins Linz, Bartoli stays in the hunt for YEC

Petra Kvitova claimed the Linz title yesterday with a dominant performance over Dominika Cibulkova winning 6-4 6-1. Everything seemed to come together perfectly for Kvitova this week as she made the perfect preparations for the year-ending-championships (YEC) in Istanbul next week. This week sees the final week of tournaments in Moscow and Luxembourg. Vera Zvonareva headlines the Kremlin Cup in Moscow where the final place for the YEC will be decided. Marion Bartoli hit a hot streak of form to win the title in Osaka last week and she will have to win the title this week in Moscow and hope that the number two seed, Agnieszka Radwanska falls in the second round. Bartoli is projected to meet Jelena Jankovic in the Quarters and Vera Zvonareva in the Semis so you would have to put your bets on Radwanska making the final spot. That is not to say Radwanska has an easy draw; Lucie Safarova could pose a tricky test in the second round.

In Luxembourg, Victoria Azarenka returns to action as the number 1 seed in a strong field. Azarenka will play Barbara Zahlavova Strycova in round 1 and could meet her doubles partner, Maria Kirilenko in the Quarters. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is the number two seed and has a much tougher draw with Angelique Kerber and Ana Ivanovic in her way of making the Semis. Sabine Lisicki, Daniela Hantuchova, Flavia Pennetta and Julia Goerges are also all battling for the title here...

Predictions
Kremlin Cup Final - Radwanska def. Zvonareva
Dark Horse - Kaia Kanepi

Luxembourg Final - Azarenka def. Lisicki
Dark Horse - Tamira Paszek
