ATP Tokyo: Preview and Predictions

Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray return to action this week in Beijing and Tokyo.  Murray headlines the draw in Japan along with Tomas Berdych, Janko Tipsarevic and Juan Monaco.  Murray has a tough opener against Gael Monfils, who has made an impressive comeback from injury.  Berdych has a good draw and could meet home favourite, Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals.  Janko Tipsarevic faces Gilles Simon in the first round, who he lost too in Bangkok this week, meanwhile Nicolas Almagro and Milos Raonic will look to have deep runs in the draw.

In Beijing, Novak Djokovic is joined by David Ferrer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet.  Djokovic opens with a qualifier and could meet the wildly unpredictable, Alexandr Dolgopolov in the quarter-finals.  David Ferrer suffered a surprising loss to Julien Benneteau, 6-4 6-1 in the Kuala Lumpur semi-finals and could be vulnerable here; watch out for the unseeded Sam Querrey who should have the beating of Fernando Verdasco in round one and could threaten Ferrer in the quarters if he gets that far.  Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has drawn Denis Istomin in the first round, meanwhile Marin Cilic and Richard Gasquet are set to meet in the quarter-finals.
