ATP World Tour Finals: Day 6 Predictions

Roger Federer
Roger Federer v Juan Martin Del Potro
Once again, Roger Federer will contest the day session in the final day of action for Group B.  Federer struggled on serve yesterday, but continued his ultimate domination over David Ferrer with a 6-4 7-6 victory.  Juan Martin Del Potro had little trouble in defeating Janko Tipsarevic, 6-0 6-4 to keep his hopes of qualifying alive.  I thought he played a solid match on Thursday and did all that was required of him when faced with a struggling opponent.  Federer and Del Potro have met a staggering seven times this year with Federer coming out on top in six of those most matches.  However their last three matches have all gone the distance including that 19-17 stunner at the Olympics and a rare victory for Del Potro in Basel.  Del Potro has been improving everytime against Federer and I am going with my instinct on this one... Del Potro to keep his hopes of qualifying alive.

Prediction - Del Potro to Federer in 3 sets

David Ferrer v Janko Tipsarevic
Janko Tipsarevic
David Ferrer once again came up short against Roger Federer, but had numerous chances in the opening set to make things even more competitive.  Janko Tipsarevic is obviously struggling with his health and was pretty shocking against Juan Martin Del Potro as he lost 6-0 6-4.  He tweeted after the match that he was happy to have lasted longer than an hour... not sure if he was being sarcastic?! The last time Ferrer and Tipsy met was an absolute cracker in the quarter-finals of the US Open.  I felt the mens tournament was pretty lacklustre this year, but this was one of the best matches along with the final.  Ferrer won in five sets at the US Open and based on their recent form, a Tipsarevic win would be pretty staggering.  I am predicting Ferrer for the win and if my predictions do come true, three players will finish with two wins... goodness knows who goes through.

Prediction - Ferrer to beat Tipsarevic in 2 sets
