Almagro is out of Shanghai |
I have updated my prediction chart for Shanghai where I have made a very solid start by correctly predicting 12 and 13 winners on the first two days of action. Today saw Tommy Haas caused the first minor upset with a come-from-behind victory to take out the number 9 seed Nicolas Almagro, 4-6 7-6 6-2. Tomorrow will see John Isner, Juan Monaco, Kei Nishikori and Milos Raonic begin their campaigns in Shanghai.
In Osaka, Sam Stosur began proceedings with a 6-4 6-2 win over Erika Sema, meanwhile Christina McHale was bundled out out in straight sets by Chang Kai-Chen. I read a while back that McHale had Mononucleosis, the same illness that has sidelined Robin Soderling. I think its time for her, whatever the real deal, to finish her season and recover for 2013. Three first round matches will be played tonight in Linz with the first one between Mona Barthel and Kiki Bertens into a third set...
