1. Agnieszka Radwanska v Sara Errani (Toronto, QF)
Sara Errani |
Radwanska looked far more impressive with an excellent 6-1 7-6 victory over Sloane Stephens, even finishing the match off with a series of winners. Errani won their last match at the French Open on her beloved clay, but the last time they played on hard court, Radwanska prevailed in an EPIC in Istanbul. I have Errani in my draw to the semi-finals, but note that I changed my predictions last minute because I had Aga out to Robson in the second round, who retired just before the start of her match... and based on this week, it's got to be Radwanska into the semis.
Prediction - Radwanska to beat Errani in 3 sets
2. Milos Raonic v Ernests Gulbis (Montreal, QF)
The bottom half of the Montreal draw was decimated overnight as Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro and Tomas Berdych joined David Ferrer on the flight to Cincy. This means that one of Vasek Pospisil, Nikolay Davydenko, Milos Raonic and Ernests Gulbis will be in the Montreal final. Raonic beat Del Potro in a match that ended with a controversial call according to my Twitter feed! Raonic also appeared to have an injury concern at the start of the match, but he defeated a tiring Del Potro, 6-4 7-5. Raonic now takes on Gulbis, who beat Murray in straight sets, 6-4 6-3. Gulbis has never beaten Raonic before in three previous match-ups, but with Raonic's injury concern and Gulbis playing some solid tennis, I am backing the Latvian to notch up a first win over the Canadian.
Prediction - Gulbis to beat Raonic in 3 sets
