WTA Katowice: Quarter-Final Predictions

It was a bad day at the office for my predictions and I am rapidly losing interest in Katowice as my focus begins to turn towards next week's ATP 1000 event in Monte-Carlo.  Anyway, here are my quarter-final predictions for Katowice tomorrow...

Petra Kvitova
1. Petra Kvitova v Petra Martic
Petra Kvitova should have a cakewalk to the Katowice final, but any tennis follower will know that anything is possible with Kvitova.  The Czech player overcame a 1-4 first set deficit to prevail against Mandy Minella, 7-5 6-2 in their second round encounter.  She now takes on Petra Martic, who has broken her 2013 winlesss streak with two solid wins over Elina Svitolina and Anna Schmiedlova.  Martic is one of the most watchable players on tour and had a big breakthrough at Roland Garros last year where she made the 4th round; however since then, injuries have really hampered her progress.  Her best result following that run in Paris was probably her straight sets win over Kvitova in Tokyo at the back end of 2012.  Martic has game to make it two out of two in their head-to-head, but I will stick with Kvitova.

Prediction - Kvitova to beat Martic in 3 sets

2. Karolina Pliskova v Roberta Vinci
My tip today for Kiki Bertens to beat Roberta Vinci had some weight as Bertens raced into a lead, but Vinci was the more consistent player as she eventually pulled out a tough 2-6 6-3 6-4 victory.  Vinci now takes on Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals, who is enjoying a strong 2013 so far.  She defeated Kaia Kanepi on her return from injury with a 7-5 6-3 victory.  I think this will be another difficult match for Vinci, but unlike yesterday, I am going for her to win to sneak into the semi-finals against a talented opponent.

Prediction - Vinci to beat Ka. Pliskova in 3 sets

Best of the rest: Katowice quarters
Peer to beat Cadantu in 3 sets
Beck to beat Camerin in 2 sets
