Lukas Rosol beats Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon

Lukas Rosol at Eastbourne
Just a very quick post in response to Lukas Rosol's INCREDIBLE five set victory over Rafael Nadal in the second round of Wimbledon! An amazing performance from Rosol with fearless hitting and ace-after-ace to completely stun Nadal in that final set under the lights.  There goes my mens champion ;-)

This has serious implications for the draw and is certain to bump up the pressure on Andy Murray; however he has an extremely tough draw before even reaches the semi-finals and he will need to just focus on one match at a time.

I must give credit to Nadal signing autographs at the end of the match.  After a loss like this, that was pretty awesome to see.  You could see in Rosol's post-match interview he was just totally flabbergasted at what had happened.  What can he do now? So often the giant killers have been unable to back it up.  He plays Phillipp Kohlschreiber in the third round, who beat Nadal at Halle... a battle of the Rafa slayers!

  1. I was shocked (and deep down a bit saddened, as I'm a bit of a Nadal fan!) but good on ya, Rosol! :D

  2. It really was a great performance from Rosol! A shame he then went out in straight sets in the next round, but it so often happens that when someone produces a shock win, they cannot back it up in the next round.
