Wimbledon to be one week later in 2015, grass court season extended!

It was announced today that Wimbledon will be moved back by a week in 2015, therefore providing an extra week of grass court tennis!  I think this is an excellent move because the grass court season has always been far too short and it allows players more times to get ready for the big one at Wimbledon.  This stage of the season always provides some great matches and it is a welcome boost from a schedule being dominated by slow hard courts.

It will be very interesting to see what they do with the warm-up tournaments and whether they introduce some new tournaments.  It has already been mentioned that Halle are interested in becoming a joint event by introducing a WTA draw.  I hope that Eastbourne is positioned in the middle week as it should be able to attract an even more impressive line-up with players not so keen to hurry to Wimbledon.  I also hope that the ATP now have a Masters event on grass... Halle or Queens?

Wimbledon will begin on the 29th of June in 2015

Also - Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Olympics with his continuing knee problems... a disappointment for the mens draw.
