WTA Cincinnati: Quarter-Final Predictions

Angelique Kerber
Serena Williams v Angelique Kerber
Serena Williams has looked far from her best in Cincinnati so far.  She laboured to a 6-4 6-3 victory over Urszula Radwanska, recovering from deficits in both sets.  It must have been so demoralising for Radwanska to see Serena playing miles below her best, but still comfortably winning.  Angelique Kerber has continued to look as steady as ever with some tight wins over Timea Babos and Andrea Hlavackova.  Serena has won their only previous encounter in 2007, but Kerber is a completely different player in 2012.  If Serena plays like she did today, Kerber will win this one; however I expect Serena will raise her level against the much stiffer competition...
Prediction - Serena to beat Kerber in 3 sets

Roger Federer v Mardy Fish
Roger Federer has barely broken a sweat to reach the quarter-finals in Cincy with routine victories over Alex Bogomolov Jr. and Bernard Tomic.  He will face off with Mardy Fish in a rematch of the 2010 final.  Fish has looked in fine form this week with three straight set victories over Feliciano Lopez, Carlos Berlocq and Radek Stepanek.  After a poor start to the year and several months off the court with heart problems, Fish really seems to have found his feet in 2012.  I cannot see him beating Federer, but full credit to the American for turning his season around.
Prediction - Federer to beat Fish in 2 tight sets

WTA QF Predictions:
Venus Williams d. Sam Stosur in 2 sets
Petra Kvitova d. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in 3 sets
Agnieszka Radwanska d. Li Na in 3 sets
More to be posted when match-ups are confirmed...

ATP QF Predictions:
Juan Martin Del Potro d. Jeremy Chardy in 2 tight sets
Milos Raonic d. Stanislas Wawrinka in 3 sets
Novak Djokovic d. Marin Cilic in 3 sets
