Laura Robson beats Kim Clijsters at the US Open

Laura Robson enjoyed the biggest win of her career so far with a sparkling 7-6 7-6 victory over Kim Clijsters in the second round of the US Open.  It was by far and away, the best match of the US Open so far with Robson showing superb composure to beat the former US Open champion.  The match had real signifcance at the end because this was Clijsters's last tournament.

It is sad to see Clijsters retire but almost fitting she was beaten by one of the brightest prospects for the WTA tour.  Robson has made some really big steps this year and I was most impressed last night with her movement and ability to stay cool in some very tense moments.  Robson will now take on Li Na in the third round, meanwhile Clijsters will play with Kirsten Flipkens in the womens doubles and Bob Bryan in the mixed doubles... I hope she can wrap her career off with a doubles title :-))

Bye Bye Kim!
