Alisa Kleybanova announces WTA tour comeback

I was delighted to wake up to the news that Alisa Kleybanova will return to the WTA tour next month in Miami where she has been awarded a wildcard.  Kleybanova, who was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma last year and has been out since May, announced via a message on the WTA website that recent tests came back with positive news and that she had been in training ready for her tennis comeback.  I must say I am surprised at how quickly Alisa will be making her comeback to the tour, but I am delighted at the same time that she is fit and healthy once again and ready to test herself against the best.  I will be supporting her all the way in Miami, which is shaping up to be an exciting tournament as it is also where Venus Williams intends to make her official comeback... she has stalled this on several occasions through 2012 so I wouldn't count on that yet!

Kuala Lumpur saw just two matches completed as rain decimated the schedule.  In the matches that did take place, Petra Martic and Su-Wei Hsieh confirmed their places in the quarter-finals, meanwhile Agnieszka Radwanska was leading Akgul Amanmuradova in her first round match, 6-2 3-3 before the heavens opened...
