Marion Bartoli and Angelique Kerber won their semi-finals on Saturday to set up an intriguing final in Paris. Bartoli was first into the final with a 7-6 6-0 victory over Klara Zakopalova. Zakopalova was the much better player in the early proceedings, but she she faltered when given a chance to take the first set. Bartoli has demonstrated her raw fighting spirit this week and she stayed with Zakopalova before crushing her in the second set with a barrage of winners. Kerber had a much more difficult route to the final with a 6-7 6-3 6-4 victory over Yanina Wickmayer. It was another great three-set match to grace the indoor courts of Paris this week and Wickmayer played well but appeared to tire at the end as she wasted a 3-1 lead in the final set. Kerber has been steadily improving since a horrendous first round loss at Wimbledon last year to Laura Robson and showed moments of magic in this match, particularly in the second set. The final will be close with both playing well but I predict Bartoli will take it in a very tight two setter...
