Nadia Petrova produced a stunning performance to beat the 2nd seed Samantha Stosur, 6-1 6-2 and reach the SF of New Haven. Petrova served and returned superbly breaking Stosur's serve on 5 occasions. Petrova has shown she has the ability to produce the big performances as she demonstrated with her 6-0 6-1 thrashing of Kim Clijsters at the Australian Open however she has struggled for consistency and the ability to back up a big win. She will now face Maria Kirilenko in the SF who stopped the run of Dinara Safina with an impressive 6-3 6-3 victory. In the other SF, Elena Dementieva and Caroline Wozniacki will meet after both progressing in different fashions. Dementieva overcame Bartoli 6-3 3-6 6-1 in a scrappy 3 hour battle. It was Dementieva however who produced the best tennis in the final set as the disappointing Bartoli served up numerous errors and double faults. Wozniacki progressed through to the next round after Pennetta pulled out with a right foot injury.
