Stanford has witnessed some excellent womens matches this week but it is Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova who will battle it out for the title in what should be a high quality, all shrieking affair. Azarenka overcome a 6-3 3-1 deficit to beat Bartoli in the QF and then produced a polished performance to beat Stosur for the fourth time in her career. Her return game was especially impressive as she rushed Stosur into making errors and did not allow her to find any kind of rhythm. Sharapova defeated Demetieva in a 3 set QF where Dementieva showed signs of promise in her recovery from injury however Maria was too strong there. She then overcame a disappointing first set against Radwanska to reach the final with her serving looking much stronger in the final set. If Victoria can keep up the good form which helped her to impressive wins over Bartoli and Stosur then i would give the edge to Azarenka despite a 2-1 losing head to head record with Sharapova. Im also going to predict it will be a 3 setter with Sharapovas never say die attitude winning her a set.
